Deliveroo announced on 22 September that it is introducing Shop & Deliver, a new order type for eligible riders and registered substitutes.
How it works
Riders shop for the customer's listed items in-store, pay with a virtual Rider Card and then deliver the order. Deliveroo says the feature will roll out in phases, so it will not appear for every rider or area immediately.
What it means for earnings
Deliveroo says shopping orders typically pay more than standard delivery orders because the rider is paid for shopping as well as delivery, and the offered fee is shown before acceptance. The extra shopping time still matters when deciding whether an order works for you.
Practical check: if Shop & Deliver appears in your app, compare the fee with the expected shopping time and follow the Rider Card setup instructions before accepting your first order.
